In-Unit Laundry

A true luxury.

The laundry hamper has piled up.

I spray a favorite shirt of mine with Bounce refresher spray.

Yes, I had worn it a couple of times, but it wasn’t dirty. It just needed a spritz to give it another day of wear.

I can’t do a load of laundry anyway. I know I don’t have enough quarters, and I need to go to the bank to get some more.

You probably think I could just get more quarters at the grocery store next time I’m stocking up on wine, but you probably haven’t had to do laundry outside of your home in a few years.

For some odd reason, grocery stores stopped letting you get a roll of quarters when you’d ask for cash back.

“I can give you like two dollars of quarters,” the cashier would say with a sigh in their voice, as they too have to use coin-operated laundry machines.

It’s a policy that has only cropped up recently.

Therefore, I would go to the bank to get a roll of quarters. It was my only option.

“Can I get ten dollars worth in quarters?” I’d ask.

“Laundry?” the bank teller would say knowing my pain.

When I moved, I ended up in an apartment with a washer and dryer in the unit.
